​David M. Melancon has been selected as one of three trustees for the Estate of Thomy Lafon. Lafon was a self-educated free person of color in New Orleans who in the 1800s built his fortune from real estate and businesses. Revenues generated by Lafon’s estate continue to this day to support the care of the elderly and disadvantaged children in the New Orleans area.
